Rebel Wilson has opened up about her massive 18kg weight loss, and how she managed to do it.
In 2020, the Pitch Perfect star embarked on what she dubbed her “year of health” and now she’s revealing it was a total mind and body overhaul.
In an interview with Extra, the actress revealed the main factor in her weight loss was approaching it differently than she had in the past.
“I think [I was successful] because I approached it from all areas… the biggest thing that I haven’t ever worked on was the emotional side, what I suffered from, I guess, as classical emotional eating … so I really worked on that side.”
“I would often go on little diets and things and try to lose a few pounds here and there,” Wilson explained. “This is the first time I haven’t gained any weight back.”
Though really, what she credits most for her success is plain old walking.
“The one biggest thing is just walking,” she continued. “I got all these high-tech tests done on me during my year of health. They said that walking was actually the best way for me to lose unnecessary body fat.”
Wilson embarked on her ‘Year of Health’ in January 2020 ahead of her 40th birthday.
“I love my curves and stuff, I don’t think I’ll ever go too skinny but I feel so much healthier,” she told Drew Barrymore. “And I don’t know whether it’s a thing with ladies when you turn 40, I feel like I really have come into my own now and not just with health but with my career.”
Wilson previously mentioned to E! News that she wants fans to be aware of the difference between being “skinny” and “healthy”.
“I don’t want to project the message that being smaller is better because I don’t really believe that,” she said. “I was just engaging in pretty unhealthy habits, like eating a tub of ice cream every night and stuff, that wasn’t actually helping me. It just felt good in the moment.”
